Audio Visual Team This team is in charge of sourcing audio-visual equipment and deploying it for all presentations, including microphones, mixers, video projectors, large monitors and stands. Helps run the main stage and other presentation venues as needed. NEED 10
Code of Conduct Team The Code of Conduct team is responsible for handling any issues regarding unwanted behavior during Build, Camp, Take Down; dwebcamp.org/conduct/ NEED 3
Construction Team The construction team is responsible for handy work, building things, from a small stage to benches; set up and decoration of each tent; if you are good with power tools, have carpentry skills, know how to build basic furniture — this is the team for you. MUST BE ABLE TO ATTEND BUILD (July 1–8) & part of TAKE DOWN (July 12–13). NEED – BUILD/TAKE DOWN tbd
Content Curation Team The Content team handles all official DWeb content: Speakers, workshops, LARPs, panels; we are seeking curators for individual tracks. Mai Ishikawa Sutton – Sr. Organizer: Content 22
Demo Night Market Team Help recruit, set up, and support the Demo Night Market presenters, each with their own table to share Ready-for-public-use technologies. (No prototypes please!) This is one of DWeb Camp's favorite events, where everyone gets a hands-on chance to try out the latest ready-to-use tools; this team must plan and support bandwidth-intensive platforms, so there is a bit of logistics, power, and network know-how or team integration involved. Documentation Team The documentation team writes articles about what happened at Camp for publishing before and after camp; part journalists, part historians — you help archive the best parts of Camp. Tommi Marmo 5
Donations Team The Donations team handles finding and communicating with existing and potential new donors. These donors are crucial to reducing ticket prices across the board and offering full scholarships to DWeb Pollinators (fellows). Wendy Hanamura (Lead)
Equipment Team This team is in charge of keeping an inventory of all equipment, deploying it to each venue, and then getting it all back to its rightful owners or vendors. This is a critical part of the BUILD, CAMP, and TAKE DOWN! NEED 4
Family Program Team Helps Director of the Family program with art activities, storytelling, and kids' movie night; seeking German-speaking Assistant Director. Andi Wong – Asst-Leader needed 4
Food & Dishwashing Team Helps with food service & food prep under the direction of caterer; also Food Team helps with build-up, maintenance and tear-down of the food preparation and serving area. Everyone cleans their own dishes; this team also loads & unloads dishwashers; washes pots & pans, helps kitchen crew get set up for the next meal. NEED many
Hospitality (Bar) Team Staffs and runs the bars; maintains tea tent; maintains tea supplies in late night music tent in evening. NEED many
Information Desk Answers questions at info desk; helps campers find tents, maps, WIFI. Nacho 6–12
Light Team The Light team handles ambient decorative lights at DWeb Camp. We also make sure that there are basic lights in place so we can all see each other at night. Handles spotlights for main stage during opening and closing ceremonies; helps source the lights before event. MUST BE ABLE TO ATTEND BUILD (July 1–8) & part of TAKE DOWN (July 12–13). NEED – BUILD/TAKE DOWN 3–4
Logistics Team The Logistics team handles moving goods, building materials and other stuff around, and other tasks requiring gloves and tools. Loads & unloads trucks. MUST BE ABLE TO ATTEND BUILD (July 1–8) & part of TAKE DOWN (July 12–13). NEED 4
Medical/Mental Health Team This team handles emergencies (medical or otherwise) 24/7. Looking for volunteers with first aid certificates. While in shifts, we make sure that everybody is healthy we also talk to people and make sure that their mental health is good. SEEKING Registered Nurse 4–8
Mesh Network Team Plans and builds mesh network; plans workshops for training in mesh networking; maintains & troubleshoots system during CAMP. MUST BE ABLE TO ATTEND BUILD (July 1–8) & part of TAKE DOWN (July 12–13). NEED – BUILD/TAKE DOWN many
Music Team Supports the performance of acoustic music, DJ sets, dinner sets, concerts, including set up and transport of instruments & amplification. Micah Fitch 3–4
Networking team Works extensively during BUILD to set up network to far ends of camp; maintains & troubleshoots system during CAMP. Peter & Arkadiy & NEED 3rd TEAM LEAD 10–15
Parking Team Directs cars entering parking lot, as well as assigned camper parking; only on arrival & departure days (Wed and Sun); supports transport van to and from the parking lot. Kev & Ligi 4
Power Team The Power team works with Alte Hölle to make sure we have enough power all over the venue. Primary workload for the team is during BUILD and TAKE DOWN. During the conference, not much is going on. MUST BE ABLE TO ATTEND BUILD (July 1–8) & part of TAKE DOWN (July 12–13). NEED – BUILD/TAKE DOWN many
Radio or Phone Operations Team We're in charge of all radio communications at DWeb Camp (the two-way "walkie-talkie" type). We also keep track of radios in use and make sure we always have a freshly-charged radio at the info/Registration desk. It's also our job to make sure people are comfortable with using the radios and know how to operate them. We introduce volunteers to radio protocols and lingo for use on the venue, so that we can avoid chaos and ensure clear, effective communications. NEED 2–3
Registration Works primarily on first day Jul 8 to get huge majority of campers registered; some needed on other days for stragglers; oversees parking volunteers & shuttles from parking. Kev & Ligi tbd
Proposal Review & Scheduling Team (PreTalx) Creates review panels for 300+ proposals; sorts proposals and helps to vet and select them. Helps input scheduled content before and possibly during Camp; enters into PreTalx; need folks good with PreTalx to help troubleshoot the software & help those entering their own sessions. Shuttle Bus Team The Shuttle Bus team needs people with a driver's license (category B, regular car up to 3500 Kg) and comfortable with driving a larger car. Great opportunity to meet a lot of new people! The shuttle will primarily drive to and from the local train station to pickup and drop off people and in addition do shopping trips to the local supermarket. The primary tasks for members on this team will be driving the car and we will take turns having shifts. NEED 6
Sourcing Team This team is responsible (mainly before Camp) to find the equipment we need to borrow (ideally), rent (okay) or build. From microphones to power strips, help us secure and deliver the goods we need, then get them back to their owners. Dani 2–3
Stewards Team Stewards are in charge of running each of the main content spaces; you are the main contact with speakers and workshop leaders assigned to your space; you help speakers get set up, troubleshoot AV, and make sure speakers are checked in before their time slots; you work in pairs in each space. Unconference Team Organizes the portion of campers who want to participate in an Unconference on Saturday, possibly Thurs–Saturday; responsible for maintaining boards, distributing equipment needed, assigning locations. NEED 4
Video Team The Video team handles video recording of certain stages — primarily lightning talks, main stage and certain tents. And you get front row seats for your favorite talks. NEED 10
Weaver Team Each day after dinner, campers can elect to meet with their "weaving group" of approx 6 randomly assigned campers. Their Weaver guides them through a chill discussion about how their day went, their dreams, their challenges. It's your DWeb Camp family for the week. Many say it's their favorite experience at Camp. We need 40+ weavers to lead small group discussions for one hour each night. Mix Irving – Lead 40
