SPACE STEWARDS Sign up to be a Space Steward

DWeb Camp sessions are held in eleven spaces, from a huge Hackers Circus Tent to the quiet Library. We carefully select Space Stewards to be the hosts of each location. Before Camp, you may support your Track Curator in selecting and scheduling proposed sessions for your space. You are part of a select group invited to come to the BUILD (July 1-7) to help construct the camp. DURING CAMP you are the host of three Program Blocks (3 hours long) in your space. Here is a description of the Space Steward’s role. Preference given to those who have attended DWeb Camp before and know what to expect.

LINK VOLUNTEERS

Named after the hero in Legend of Zelda, Link possesses an unbreakable spirit; he’s humble yet brave, always willing to use his hidden skills to save those around him. At DWeb Camp, Link volunteers are ready to leap to any task, help any camper in distress, or fly into action when needed.

Anyone can be a Link! Once at camp, you’ll be able to log in to the volunteer system which allows you to sign up for shifts. Volunteers who complete a certain number of hours will receive a special DWeb Camp Volunteer T-shirt.

SUPER LINKS Share your talents as a Super Link

If you are able to commit to volunteering at least 24 hours during Camp, you can apply to be one of our Super Links, and receive a code for 50% off the lowest ticket price.

A few days before Camp, you can log in to the volunteer system to see which shifts you have been assigned to. You must be willing to do any task, not just the ones you think are fun.

To apply to be a Super Link, please fill out this form. If accepted, we will send you a code for a half-off ticket. Super Link positions are limited, so apply early!

WEAVERS Help weave our community

Are you a good listener, someone who knows how to hold space for others, and support open communication in a small group? Then you should be a DWeb Camp Weaver!

Weaving groups are small groups that meet everyday during Camp to connect, share something of meaning and maybe make lifelong connections. Each group is about 5-6 people, and is hosted by a "Weaver". The same group meets each evening for an hour (usually after dinner), so you have some continuity and a chance to go a little deeper. Think of it as your camp family.

The role of a Weaver is to facilitate one of those small sharing circles. You’ll have a chance to learn some facilitation skills during an orientation run by our Head Weaver. We'll have opportunities for online orientation before camp and one in-person orientation at camp.

Ultimately, you help weave our community together. Highly recommended for folks both new and returning to DWeb Camp! You can read more about weaving groups here: Home Group Weaving

Your Weaving hours as a host are tracked in the volunteer system and count toward the Camp Volunteer T-shirt.

To apply to be a Weaver, please fill out this form. If accepted, we will invite you to the Weaver’s orientation.

Build & Take Down

It takes a special group of volunteers to BUILD (July 1-7) and TAKE DOWN (July 12-14) the entire Camp, transforming empty fields and forests into a vibrant event space.

We have a limited number of people allowed on site during the Build, so this is by invite only. You need a DWeb Camp ticket and permission from us to turn up early or stay after the event ends.

During the BUILD and TAKE DOWN, DWeb Camp is a construction site and we are liable for your safety. For this reason, we do not allow children under-18 on site without explicit permission.

If you don’t follow instructions we will be forced to remove you from the site, for everyone's safety. Volunteering requires plenty of lifting, mobility and strength.

We need people with special skills in carpentry, construction, lighting, networking, mesh networking, power distribution, and more. Here is a list of the BUILD and TAKE DOWN Teams we are hoping to fill.

During this time, Alte Hölle will feed us three delicious meals per day, mostly vegetarian/vegan. (Transportation and housing are up to the volunteers.)

To be notified when we start looking for help with BUILD and TAKE DOWN TEAMS please subscribe to the volunteering mailing list.
